Epping Forest is an area of ancient woodland in south-east England, straddling the border between north-east Greater London and Essex. It is a former royal forest, and is managed by the City of London Corporation. The forest lies on a ridge between the valleys of the rivers Lea and Roding. Epping Forest covers over 6000 splendid, verdant acres and is a deciduous forest with Oak, Beech, Birch and Hornbeam trees predominant.
Horse riding is permitted on Epping Forest although all horse riders must display a valid licence. Due to this we have a Hacking fee which is applicable to all hacks. It is renewable 1st April every year. The fee is £5 per hack or for regulars a £20 per year fee is cheaper.
There are currently over 50 miles of surfaced and un-surfaced rides throughout the Forest and, during the summer months, most of the northern area of the Forest is open for free-range riding
